Hello
I am doing a project about mixing tank, I have done the geometry in gambit, but I do not know how to mesh well. Firts I did with Tet/Hybrid and Tgrid, but when I export to Fluent and I check it, it gives me some errors.
For the geometry I have done the tank after the impeller and I have created and interface between them.
Could anyone tell me how to mesh and if I have done well the geometry??

Thank you

instead of ansys meshing, try ICEM. I have some of these cases recently.

ok,thanks. At this moment I canīt show you what I have done in icem, because the university at this moment is close.
The geometry I did in gambit and after export to icem, I exported as a parasolid, and after I imported this geometry, after I went to blocking and create block, and after I think that I have to split block but I donīt know in how many cubes I have to split. I can not tell you now more, I know that this is nothing but is it allright? tomorrow I would ask you how can I continue if comes well to you.

Thank you very much

Hi
Here I have my design, I am going to attach two pictures for you to see if I have done all right, I put also all boundary conditions in gambit, is it right?
could you tell me what do I have to do now in Icem to start meshing?

Thank you very much

siw will become famous soon enough
CFX tutorial 17 looks similar to your case, which uses two meshes; an unstructured mesh around the blade and a structured mesh in the tank. Would it be easier to copy that approach instead to get you started quicker?

If look at the pics in my previous post, you would notice that I have meshed exactly same geometry in ICEM.

Yes I see, but I do not know how to mesh like that, could you tell me the steps to get this mesh?

I have tried doing a mesh going to mesh and compute mesh, after I choice hexa-dominant, and I get this mesh.
I think that this is wrong because the mesh in only on the surface, to make a mesh in all I think that I have to go to block all the geometry and after split block, but I do not know how to split well, and after how to connect the blocks with my geometry, could you tell me how to do it?

Thank you very much

No No.

Go to blocking tab. Create master block. Split at the appropriate locations. Associate edges to curves.

I make create block , after I split creating three cubes, and I associate with the curves.
I do not know in how many cubes I have to split, is it all right?

I think that what you want is how to get the volumes, is it?
Once you have all geometry you have to go to volume and subtract, you choose in the first the tank and in the second the middle cilinder and click retain for the middle cilinder, and ok. next you choose for the first the middle cilinder and the impeller for the second, you can retain the impeller if you are going to specific the zone of the impeller as a solid.

Thanks for reply yes, you understand rightly. I dont want to be solid zone because I dont solve enregy equation. If I subtract impeller from middle cylinder, the shaft eliminate, yes?

For the shaft you have to choose in the first step with the middle cilinder, after, you have to choose with the impeller. there will be a piece of shaft, you have to go to volume and just delete it.
