hi guys,

im having real trouble getting my quad mesh to be orthogonal. Its a pipe, 2d axisymmetric, with a square orifice plate. Im using inflation layers as per best practice guidlines. However no matter what I do I cant get the mesh to be orthogonally perfect :/ my geometry should mean that it is quite easy to do so? My orthogonal quality is 0.59. This is for a university project and the deadline is approaching and nobody seems to know hwo to fix my problem :/ any advice available?

Thanks!

vasava will become famous soon enough
Are you judging your mesh solely on basis of information in Ansys meshing? Have you tested the mesh quality with Fluent?

Ansys meshing always complains about mesh quality especially when boundary layers are involved. This may be due to the fact that the layer thickness is very small in-comparison to the sides or the triangle/quadrilateral.

minimum of 0.59 is more than enough, solvers accept quality as low as 0.05, so if the min is mroe than 0.05 no need to worry. just imagine, are your mesh cells perfect squares? no, then how can you expect the quality to be 1, 0.59 is perfect in my opinion...
