Periodic Tet Mesh
 
I would like to mesh a rather simple geometry with a tetra mesh and two translation periodic boundaries. I have setup the periodicty with "GLOBAL MESH SETUP -> PERIODICITY". With the OCTREE Mesher it works like expected, while any other mesher (Advancing Front, Delaunay, TGrid) does not generate a periodic mesh. Checking the periodicity with "RIGHT BUTTON MESH -> Periodicty" I get the message "No periodicty defined".

Which steps are necessary to generate a periodic mesh with these meshing algorithms?

ok, in the mean time I have found a solution which works in my case:
  1. define periodicity (global mesh setup)
  2. create patch dependent surface mesh on one of the surfaces with periodicity defined
  3. Mesh Repair -> Make Periodic -> Auto, select meshed surface
  4. Move Nodes -> Lock Nodes
  5. Surface Mesh Setup: "Respect Line Elements" & "Protect Line Elements"
  6. Patch dependent surface mesh on remaining surfaces
  7. Merge nodes -> Single Edges
  8. Create Volume Mesh

I'm trying to do something similar, but when I try to Repair Mesh, Make Periodic, it only allows me to select single nodes, not the whole surface.

Same here, No "Auto" option!

Hi Ralf,

I know it's a rather old post, but I cannot manage to find the "Make Periodic -> Auto, select meshed surface" option, nor the "Merge nodes -> Single Edges" one.
Would you mind to elucidate a little further?
