Dear Friends,
I am trying to make a 2D mesh for using in fluent as axisymmetric to represent cylinder . Physics - The compression stroke of the mesh body using its one face as piston, and using the profile data points. This model is intended to simulate the compression at end of piston face motion using chemkin file - partially premixed - Ignition model I am getting negative volume- dynamic mesh update error !! while trying to run for solution in transient mode. Can you please suggest how to approach the meshing so that i donot face the problem for the fluent .. i think it s due to less orthogonal quality / skewness for the Quad cell i am using in ansys modeller. since I am knew please tell how to select the mesh values to avboid errror. The Cylinder - stroke length- 254mm and Diameter 25.4mm and thus compression ratio of 16.5, the velocity is maximum at 14 which I found the piston face is simulating good in preview I am stuck due to being new in ansys thanks Sanjeet |

Please help me achieve the reference mesh shown
It is needed for dynamic compression. I am trying to use the layering method and able to run 2D planer mode only. The mesh is showing error negative volume due to the crevice area mesh. Do i ned to use multi zone in the mesh to get Quad cells in crevice and taper geometry. How to get good skewness for 2D axisymetric |

Hi.
If you want create good hex mesh in Workbench, you need to split geometry into simple quads, and then you can use mapped face meshing for its. But I think that mesh for this geometry is easier to build in icem. |

I tried the mapping, selecting the vertec for the crevix and body joining partition line
But i still get the error : negative volume.. Please suggest how to improve the mesh |

Dear friend, I use wb 15 and cant open your project. Can you send me only geometry file? It will not be so big. I will be able to open it
