Any of you guys still using Gambit, any reason why?

^I am for one, because, my job..

I wish. The licenses at my university have run out and the software removed from the workstations. When using Fluent we must go through Workbench.

There was a lot more freedom with Gambit which actually required an understanding of mesh structure and the impact it would have (or preferably would not have) on the prediction. I struggle to create the meshes I want and need with the Workbench mesher.

The only tripe I have with workbench mesher is that it doesn't allow "sweeping" of meshes with geometry. We have to created all the volumes first. This makes it unnecessarily complicated.

And the extrusion in workbench is so much more restrictive than Gambit..

I would like some input from users who've used ICEM and Gambit though...I don't know how hard/easy/flexible/time consuming ICEM is compared to Gambit.

ICEM is great, its very user friendly with a streamlined approach. I see new people are able to become proficient fast with a little guidance

I just use ansys meshing, I tried using ICEM many times by trying a few tutorials but always failed.
