Imported 3D curve from text but cant generate surface

I am trying to generate scroll wrap. For this I am exporting the co-ordinates from a text file(Scroll1.txt). After I generate the curve it looks like "scroll1aa.jpg" and "scroll1bb.jpg". I dont understand why the arrow is out of plane.
Then when I try to generate the surface through following steps: concept->surface from egde I am not able to select the curve and hence not able to generate the surface. Any idea whats wrong !!??
