ICEM CFD surface doesn't respect and fit to geometry
 

Hello everybody

I am trying to mesh a complex 2D geometry in ICEM. Because of the complexity I want to mesh it with an unstructured tetra mesh. After I imported the geometry in ICEM and prepared them I create surfaces for being able to create a surface mesh on it.

I create a rectangular surface and then segment the surface and cutout my geometry. That does work fine except of a small end of geometry. Like the picture shows the geometry doesn't respect the line and has a sharp end. The surface is the light blue line and my geomtry the darker blue.
When I now create a mesh the mesh is also inside my geometry what causes a problem when I try to use it in Fluent (what is reasonable).

Is there anyone who can help me with this problem? Couldn't find a solution in other threads.

Is your problem creating the surface with those dark blue curves? Am I getting this right!

Yes, you are right. The quality of the picture is not good, but you can see some bright blue lines which are representing the surface. And the darkblue lines are the geometry. The geometry is much bigger then you can see the picture. This is only a small thin end of it, a trailing edge of a nacelle.

The rest of the geometry is well represented by the surface.

Can you post more pictures? there is many options to create the surface. Why don't you make a curve and segment the surface from where it's started to not follow the curve and create another surface till the end of the dark blue line?

Thank you for your reply and help. Unfortunately I can't upload picture of the whole geometry. I add two more pictures to this post of details where you can see that the surface is not following the lines of the geometry.
One of it is a trailing edge with a thickness of a few milimeters wheras the whole part is more than a meter long. So it is a really small end.

The other picture shows a quite bigger part of the geometry but it is also not well represented by the surface.

What I do to create the surface is the following. I load my geometry which is created in AutoCAD into ICEM. I sort it in parts and then create lines for the far field. After that I create a surface with the lines of the far field as boundaries. The next step is to segment the surface. I choose the big rectangular surface and then my geometry. Because my geometry consists of three parts I do it three times an always segment the big surface. Following I delete the segmented surfaces. The result is a big surface with holes in it which should represent my geometry.
Am I doing something wrong?
