uniform mesh, cylinder with a cut

Hi everyone

I am using Ansys Meshing
I need to mesh a cylinder, i know this should be easy but, my cylinder has a cut with smaller cylinder form in his base (see image),
and i think this bothering me to get a uniform mesh (sweep, quads). I have tried many thing that i have seen in this forum and tutorials, but i cant get it
maybe is easy, but sorry, i haven't found the way

I thought separate my body in 2 body, the lower body (cylinder with the cut), and the higher body (a single cylinder), and then meshing each one of these separately.
but when I tried it, the face in common avoid uniform mesh, if i did this, after when I simulate with fluent, this could give result different than if I did this with a 1 only body and 1 only part?

I would like read information about this last (use add frozen, add slice, slice o other methods to get more bodies) how does affect to final result?

I need element smaller around cylinder axis, and the axial size of element about 1 mm

size of cylinder
Diameter 200 mm
Height 350 mm

Cut cylinder
Diameter 1 mm
Height 5 mm

attached many images, few things I have done.

thank for you attention

best regards

hi,

to obtain uniform mesh create the smaller cylinder passing through the bigger cylinder and keep that cylinder in one part.

Might be possible it helps you.

thanks for your help,
I have tried that, guess, because I don't understand very well that you mean, but I have tried creating a cylinder smaller, although, I create 1 part to all bodies (that's It do you mean?), the problem is the smaller cylinder is not a thru-hole, It just drills the bigger cylinder 5 mm

well, when I try with a cylinder body (add frozen) sealing the thru-hole, I get a drills of 5mm in the bigger cylinder and I get this results

but I need a finer mesh near of cylinder axis, so I use "Face Split" to draw 2 lines in the upper face, and then I use "Edge Sizing" to do finer mesh near of cylinder axis
this way

but I get this result :(

I lost the uniform mesh, indeed i tried with mapped face, but got this errors:

-"the following body cannot be swept because the following target face mesh does not match the souce mesh. Clear face mesh from the following face and try again"
-"The source mesh cannot be correctly copied to the target surface. this is usually because the surface is a closed surface with degenerate points. split the surface and try again"

-I need uniform mesh
-Finer mesh near of cylinder axis
-Axial size element about 1 mm, like the first image is good, but sometimes, when I use other condition, size increases
(I have used face split to set the axial size, but I don't get good results, the similar way like I said before)

do you understand me?

hi,
for unifrom mesh u hv to do the face split in the lower faces also.

Hi

thanks, I tried with split face in lower face, but i get this :(

I tried with another conditions, "edge sizing" only in upper face, only in lower face, both.
"mapped face" only in upper face, only in lower face, both, in cylindrical face
but I got errors or nonuniform mesh.

also I tried with "split face" in cylindrical face to set axial element size, but It doesn't work

I keep trying other conditions that occurs to me
If you have other suggestion please tell me

Best regards
