Difference between merged blocks and adjacent blocks which are not merged

Hi,
I am not really sure if I understand the point of the merge blocks feature. Even after merging, you can adjust the vertices of individual blocks which were merged. As can be seen in the attached figure, the blocks in the centre are merged, but to me, they seem to behave the same as individual blocks. Even when I select faces, I have to select faces of individual blocks in the merged block. Given this, why would one want to merge blocks? What am I missing here? Thanks, Shruti |
