Hi,
You are going good and I can see you are on track Faizan. These were similar questions I faced when I started working on ICEM. Although I haven't mastered it yet, but still learning although its taking me quite sometime but I'm sure I'll eventually get there. Take youtube tutorials, watch them over and over again and you'll notice that your block edges does not necessarily exactly fit the geometry curves.
You can split your block wherever you want and however you want. It is completely your choice which fits your geometry.
And please try to discuss more about your computational domain with your adviser because you might be simulating more than what is necessary in your case.
For example; do you need to simulate the cylindrical domain? How about you just simulate the flow through the da naval nozzle? Wouldn't it simplify your case? Its just my guess though. Since I haven't worked on your kind of case, I won't be able to help you much. I suggest you to keep discussing with your supervisor or expert in your field at your lab. It is very crucial.

P.S.: I might not be able to respond to you much next week as I'll be on vacation. I'll do when I get the time.

Good luck for your work!

Hi Nikesh,

Many many thanks for your responses. You are a great person! Thanks for your suggestion-I appreciate. Actually, I do have an idea about my computational domain and physics of the problem. I had a very long discussion with my supervisor. He explained me about the location and area in computational domain but he is not good at using meshing tool/software. V both had agreement that cylindrical air domain would be fine as air domain at this stage because we just need cylindrical domain to simulate surrounding air environment and it uses less nodes and less computation time. The main focus is supersonic nozzle. the delaval nozzle and its throat and its exit would be important for me. I am struggling to learn this ICEM meshing tool and in parallel developing the mesh for my next experiment. I have experimental data with me and all I need to create an exact setup as in lab but the only problem is the mesh as I also have an understanding of ANSYS CFX but the only problem is MESH :confused::confused:.

I request you to please help me in just constructing this mesh as I would need your expert advise on hexa meshing in icem software. I am new to this mesh software. Just to update my progress. I am doing 3D pipe blade tutorial as I think it is close to my case. It has two bodies one solid and one fluid like mine.

Please do check this thread during your vacation. I would try not to bother you during your vacation.

Have a nice, happy, healthy and safe holidays:):)

Cheers,

Faizan
