Problem in solid mesh at ICEM CFD HEXA 3D Elbow Tutorial

3 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I'm just learning ICEM CFD and concepts of meshing.
I have done first few tutorials of ICEM.
In the elbow tutorial, after doing the routines, I tried to mesh the solid but some weird behaviors happened. In middle block, the grid are just as I expected but in the top and the bottom ones, the mesh grids just act weird!
For example, from the middle block to bottom, the grids have a tendency to move to the CYL edges!
I tried to re-associate the edges (all exactly the same to he tutorial) but nothing!
Even playing with Surface association, moving vertices, ... bring no help.

I saw the youtube tutorial and recheck the tutorials script but no one mentioned the solid mesh !
Could anyone help me what is the problem?

You may find in the attachment the picture of what I am trying to say!
The cut plane is "Middle Z".

And as a beginner, I really cannot explain very well about the situation I am facing, then maybe attaching the .blk and .tin of my saved project can help.

Regards
Sajjad

Hi,

I found the problem. Actually the "SOLID" name tricked me!
At first I thought that the part is a closed volume but after closer look I found that the small cylinder has no surface on its top and bottom! and the pre-mesh trying to converge all the grids to the top and bottom edge.
After adding the two surfaces the problem was gone.

Thanks.
