One last doubt about ICEM. Something strange has always happened to me when defining Meshing Parameters. When I input the number of Nodes, right after I enter the value I need, ICEM updates it to a bigger one, maybe 3, 4 or 5 more nodes. If I click Apply, it will keep increasing the number. Is that a bug in my installation? or, is there a setting I may need to change?

any thing beyond formal studies will need innovative approach and method of "hit and trial". thats all you need. think, apply and again think and apply...

It should not happen...

it's something quite weird. anyway, it just takes me some extra seconds, that's all!

now, i'm struggling to export the mesh to fluent. i'll check a couple of tutorials later this evening.

Thanks for your help Sijal!!!

Hello again Sijal,

I am struggling with something new when following your tutorial for the 3D sphere. This didn't happen last week.
I have started from scratch the meshing, from DesignModeler, following exactly your steps. I am attaching a couple of pictures to show the result when I link the edges of the O-Grid.
From what you see, can you imagine what may have happened?

Thanks!

Dear Sijal,

Forget what I said in my previous message. I closed workbench, started from scratch again, and have been able to generate my entire domain.

This time I have done it with the "good" dimensions of the fluid domain from DesignModeler.

I just need to define the mesh appropriately, and be able to export it to fluent with no error when opening the mesh in that program.

Thanks!

Dear Sijal,

I'm starting to think that bad demons are messing with my work.

When I opened the project again last night, the first think I did was to define some scan planes. You may see the result in the files attached. The O-Grid was deformed in a very strange way.

How is it possible that an action directed towards just showing the grid, ends up destroying it?

The link to the file is the following: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rgox44xuws...PHERE.zip?dl=0

thanks!

make things simple. Dont use options which may make problems e.g. edit edge should be used with care.

So dont use edit edge option and see the quality.

Thanks Sijal,

I'll strip the baby-steps method down to the very basics :-)

The fact that "Scan Plane" is 'just' a visualization tool, and it modified significantly (destroyed) my mesh, was quite nerve-wrecking. Specially, when it happened at 11.30PM last night ;-) LoL!!!

I am also trying to mesh similar model but with certain addition on it. My sphere consists of Fins over it and these fins need to have fine mesh compared to the sphere itself. Can you please let me know how to do so?
To be honest, I have never used ICEM prior this model. So, it would be nice if someone could guide me how to go with the case under consideration.

Can you please show some pics?

However you can handle fins on sphere by creating another ogrid and split block for the fins one-by-one. It is just a quick thought, more details can be discussed once I see the image of your model.

Sure @Far. This is really helpful of you.
I'm attaching a file for your reference. This image shows the outer rectangular domain where Natural Convective heat transfer shall be studied over a finned sphere. If required I can send you solidworks file of sphere for your reference. For my study, Fins shall have finer mesh and sphere relatively coarse. As far as rectangle is considered, regular mesh is considered.
