After I created a thread related to this topic, I found your tutorial. Thanks dude. Just a simple question, in which step you converted the structured mesh to unstructured mesh? I'll be waiting for Sijal's new episode of Hybrid mesh tutorial. Thanks both of you guys. |

Check your mesh by enabling the pre-mesh! if it's OK then save the blocking and disable pre-mesh! you can enable mesh to have your unstructured mesh presented. go to file> Mesh > load from blocking and merge them! now both meshes are loaded as unstructured mesh and you can make them conformal at the interface! |

Thank you very much for the step-by-step-tutorial.
My problem is, that I'm not able to create mesh only for the inner (unstructured) part. I created 4 points around my inner geometry and connected them with curves. Then I set the material point inside this box. But how can I make sure, that only this box gets meshed with the unstructured mesh? I see in your picture under step 4, that you didn't delete the outer part. |

Thanks for your reply. But how can I do it without deleting? Is there anywhere an option where I can select the bodys I want to get meshed?

one more thing, try to split the domain in design modeler then import to ICEM CFD |

I will try that tomorrow when I have a PC with ICEM installed. Thank you!

The meshing of the two different domains worked perfectly.
EDIT: The rest worked, too. I think the problem was because the size-difference between outer and inner mesh-elements was to big. (Then I tried to merge the two meshes. When I used "File=>Mesh=>Load from Blocking" it didn't load the mesh of the inner domain. So I used "File=>Mesh=>Open Mesh..." and loaded the file with the meshed inner domain where the outer domain was not meshed. Then I pressed merge and saw both meshes in the way I wanted it. After that I wanted to do the last step and did "Mesh=>Merge Nodes=>Merge Meshes" and activated my Interface (which I created at the beginning) in "Merge Surface Mesh Part" and confirmed. But I got an error which you can see in the picture and ICEM crashed. Do you have any idea why this could happen? Maybe because of the "Open Mesh..." instead of "Load from Blocking"? Thanks in advance!) Last edited by ma.; July 28, 2016 at 08:22. |
