Problem with a simple Prism layer
 

I am running a very simple step model to make sure I know how to apply the prism layer properly. I have been following Simon’s tips and trick on ICEM CFD, which has been invaluable, to correctly set up my prism layers. Every thing works great except where the top of the step intersects with the side walls. The prism layers seem to pull away from the wall. I have my min prism quality at 1e-6 and max prism angle at 180. I thought maybe that selecting the part that contains the wall surface as the "Side part" would fix the problem, but no dice. Any ideas? Thanks!

PS: the vertical section of the step is assigned to a different part than the horizontal sections. It does not have any prism layers growing off of it. Geometry and mesh files.

This is not the first time I see this kind of behavior. May be try resetting the geometry, check that curve over there, see if it belongs to the parts where inflation is applied. I don't know it applies to curves, but surely some parameters is overriding... I'll tried to check your geometry once at home

diamondx is totally right. The problem is you geometry. It is not very clean, it has e.g. several overlapping curves. Do a proper cleanup and it will work.

I guess this shows my inexperience with ICEM, but I did not know that overlapping curves could cause problems like that. Thank you for the help! Cleaning up the curves did in fact fix the problem.
