Interface between solid zone and fluid zone

Hi all,

I just wonder that '' named selection'' Interface is needed in between solid zone and fluid zone ?

if both is fluid zones, the answer is yes, But it is unnecessary to define ''interface'' between solid and fluid zones.

I will be happy if you help me and teach me about this issue.

Kind Regards,

Interface is required whenever you need to transfer some data from one domain to another domain.

In most of the case of Fluid-Fluid zone, one domain will be rotating and another will be stationary. Now without an interface flow will not pass from one domain to another domain.

Solid-Fluid zone interface is required, if we need to consider heat transfer between solid and fluid by convection.
If you don't need heat transfer between solid and fluid domains then you can delete the solid and there will be no need of creating any interface

Cool, thank you, I got it

So it is mandatory but not necessary and I am working on temperature distribution in solid one along with convection and conduction heat transfers.

I would like to ask only one question about attached photo.

As you can see , fluid zone (stationary fluid, velocity=0), its top and side part should be given ''interface'' name selection. But I need to give it initial temperature value in same way in FLUENT. I think of this way, if I select it as a ''body'' in DM and I could give it name selection as ''wall'' then temperature degree is giveable. But that fluid zone is stationary in same way. So, I could give it velocity-inlet as name selection (as a body selection) and I could enter that its velocity is zero in FLUENT.

Which one is correct ?

Thank you
