Hi all,
I am facing a problem with a structured mesh. I have created a domain around an airfoil. I am following a tutorial on youtube. When a split it in different faces in order to have create the structured mesh, I am not able to split the face that comes after having created projections. The mesh therefore becomes unstructured due to the presence of this unique face. I have attached the picture. Please help! |

I am sorry for the low quality. I try again.
Btw my problem is with the green band that it is showed in the picture below. It suppose to be a 2 different pages but it is only one. The band is surrounding the airfoil so one face should start from the upper surface and the other one should start from the lower surface since I have split the airfoil in two edges. Since the face is single the mesh will not be created as structured one. Is there any way to create 2faces from a single one? I have tried trough face split tool but it requires target and tool body that in my case I recon are the same. [/IMG] |

You can split the face in meshing application using the Virtual Topology.
Here is what you need to do: 1. Insert Virtual Topology in the tree. 2. Select the two vertices which you want to split the face with 3. In the toolbar you can then click on the split face at vertices button. Hope this helps! |

Are you sure? Have you tried to assign Mapped Face control to your faces? If it won't help, you'll have to split your geometry into different bodies. To do it extrude face in perpendicular direction with 'Slice material' option.

Thanks a lot both.
I have solved through face splitting and splitting the faces by plane(XZ plane). I think it is a very rough solution but it worked. Quote:
