Hi all,

Long time lurker and first time OP!

I am currently working on creating a 2D simulation in Workbench while using Ansys meshing and Fluent (k-w SST) as the solver. As with other students I loosely followed Cornell's tutorial and my problem is as follows:

I am trying to keep Y+<5 around the airfoil boundary layer with edge bias in my C-Mesh as per the Cornell tutorial. In order to get the low Y+ value, I have to increase bias factor or number of divisions and consequently:

  • If I increase bias factor -> Aspect ratio in the far field gets too high resulting in convergance problems
  • If I increase the number of divisions -> The computational cost is increased by quite a margin and I'm not sure if having 300k elements for a 2D symmetrical airfoil with 150mm chord makes much sense
I am open to suggestions and possible way forwards!
