Hey guys,

I am currently trying to mesh a 3D wing inside a sphere domain.

I have come across some problems. Namely I am having troubles with O-grid around the wing. Please see the attached screenshots.

I attached all the edges to their correspoding curves after i had created the o-grid around the whole wing. As you can see in the picture Mesh_Problem something went wrong with the O-grid around trailing edge. If I move the blocks, it will change a bit around there but I will get elements with negative determinant. Anybody knows how to solve it? Should I attach some more pictures?

Michael

Hi Michael,

more pictures of the area of trouble would definitely help.
The counts on the blocking in the last picture don't match. Can you show a picture with "scan plan"?

i would also try to assiociate the trailing block face directly to the trailing edge surface.

With regards,
Sebastian

Hey Sebastian !

Thank You for Your reply !

I tried to associate the block's surface to the trailing edge's surface but it didn't change anything.

Of course, I see no problem in adding more pictures but first I need to ask You to be more precise. Could You please tell me what do You mean by saying the block count don't match? And the other thing is that I don't actually understand what is that so called "scan plan". If You are willing to answer those short questions, I will add other pictures right after Your reply.

Thank you

Michael

Hello Michael,

have a look at your picture:

blockcount.png

On one side there are many elements. On the other side only a few hugh elements. From this picture, i cannot get an idea how these are attached, or, whether i miss something.

The feature scan planes (sorry forgot they named it in plural) is found in the context menu of premesh:
scanplanes.png

You can inspect planes of element by selecting an edge which is normal to a wanted plane. The you can move the plane element by element layer on that edge.
This tool might helping in finding a problem in the associations.

With regards,
Sebastian

Hey Sebastian!

I am adding more pictures as You requested.

In the picture called Dissassociated You can see what happens when I dissassociate the block's edge from the geometry. To be more specific from the curve representing the trailing edge. Its obvious that this particular association causes the problem but I have to admit I have no idea why.

The other pictures captures the scan plans.

I am also adding the picture capturing the association of the blocks around the wing.
