Hi All

I am on the learning curve of ICEM CFD and have been asking questions here to get my doubts cleared, and so far you guys have been really forthcoming.

I am trying to mesh a cylinder contained inside a cuboid with Octree based 3D Tet mesh. The cylinder is hollow and closed

I understand that I am able to capture the curvature of the cylinder only when I activate the "Curvature /Proximity Based Refinement" in the "Global Mesh Parameters". When I change the " minimum size limit" to say, 0.4, I get 14 line elements on the circumference of the cylinder. If I change to 0.8, I get 4 line elements.

Is there any way or any logic to predict apriori how many line elements will result corresponding to the minimum size limit? Or is it mostly trial and error.

Thank you
