error

can anybody help plzz

You need to post more information such as what code you are using to get help. You haven't provide any information.

pradeepsama April 1, 2017 15:58

i am opening the work bench and using modal analysis
and i am importing the coordinate file by first making proper arrangement of columns in ms excel and after importing the file when i am joining the points by "lines through point" option i am able to join some point after that i am getting an error called points are self intersecting.

remove the last line of code and try once more, it mite solve

DS error reading coordinates file

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all

I have the same error of this topic DS error reading coordinates file.

I dont understand the file NACA-4412 is works fine to import but my other file is get this error.

I search in the CFD forum but nothing can solve my problem here some solution:

The txt file must be saved as ANSI not UNICODE(it saves like that by default)

  • Put comment # at the beginning of each column( such as #x, #y etc)
  • The last row must be 1 0 that means erase the column relative to x,y,z coordinates because they are the same of the first one( I am assuming that you have created an airfoil with closed trailing edge)
  • Save the file as ANSI not unicode.

I dont know where my error in the file Clark Y.txt

I generate from the site aerofoil tools

my ansys version is 17.1, excel version 2013.

I salve the file in txt tab delimited and nothing works.

thanks

Hi Pradeep,

I had a similar error. The fix was to use same format of numbers as used in ansys; that is if a comma or dot is the correct input for decimal place.

That's the answer.

when u download coordinates from airfoil plotter
you will have repeated coordinates in the excel file , you just need to remove that one repeated co ordinate point , thats simple

Fix for anyone who tried all the above and none of it worked

I tried every known solution on the internet, and exactly 0 of them worked.

How I fixed my issue, was:
1. Go to airfoiltools.com and get clark y coordinates
2. On the right hand side of the screen, click "Send to airfoil plotter"
3. On the next screen, choose "CSV file of coordinates"
4. Open the file, create a new z coordinate with 0s
5. Make sure all 3 coordinates have same number of significant digits
6. Convert file to tab delimited (.txt)
7. Open DesignModeler, change units to mm
8. Concept -> 3D curve-> Choose coordinates file.

DONE.

I was struggling with this for days!!! Hope this helps someone else.

Hi there.
Perharps i’m joining the thread a little bit late, but could you explain me how did you make the NACA-4412 archive in more detail? I’ve been struggling with the 3d curve problem for weeks, and knowing how to make propper archives would be really helpful, for I need it for a research proyect.
Thanks!
