Hi!
I try to do a CHT analysis at FLUENT. I have made a Hex mesh for the fluid zone at ICEM and an unstructured Tet mesh for the solid zone at ANSYS Meshing. Till now I have managed to import the unstructured mesh into ICEM, merge the two meshes into one mesh and export it to Fluent. The problem is that when defining the boundary conditions at Fluent, I need the interface between fluid-solid zones to be identified as a coupled wall, in order for the heat transfer to take place. However, the interface is identified by Fluent as 2 different walls (fluidside - solidside), so I suppose there is no connection between them. If anyone could give some advice about how to make a proper "interface" between a structured and an unstructured mesh it would be very helpfull. P.S.: If it wasn't for the structured mesh that I need, I would create ONE part at ANSYS Meshing including both the fluid and solid bodies and the generated mesh would be conformal at the interfaces. I'd like to do the same thing now at ICEM. |

Once you press create your different wall will change to coupled wall |

Thank you Kushal Puri for your answer,
actually I noticed I didn't understand the "merge" condition. I just imported the unstructured mesh to ICEM by "Merging" instead of "Replacing". I suppose it does not mean that the 2 meshes are merged, and thereby the interface is not conformal. But I also came to believe that I don't need a conformal mesh for the heat transfer to take place (is that right?). So I will just follow your instructions for defining the two surfaces as coupled wall in FLUENT. Thnx again! |
