meshing problem for Gurney flap

1 Attachment(s)
I'm new to CFD and I've been trying to get a nice structured mesh for an airfoil with a Gurney flap (Projection at trailing edge) .However, ICEM is meshing the insides of the flap as well. I've used the split edge command to fit the block into shape but that didn't work. Is there any way to stop it from meshing the insides of the flap?

I've attached a close-up view of the mesh. It would be great if someone helped. :)

meshing problem for Gurney flap

Hello,
I’m also dealing with the same problem as you.
Could you solve the problem?
Please help me..

Hi guys,

It looks like an association problem. Check the edge to curve / vertex to point / face to surfaces association.

Have fun ;)

I am also facing the same problem, both in flaps and an inward dimple on airfoil. My structured mesh is poor. I put a circle around the airfoil and generated the mesh, it was okay, but the small area around the dimple and flap is still not okay and the Face Meshing has small blue sign on it suggesting something wrong in the mesh. Please guide.

Hi Janet,

Are you meshing with ICEM or Ansys Meshing ? Also remember a picture is worth a thousand words ;)
