I am new to ANSYS. I am trying to develop a combustor model.

The inlet of the combustor is in the 4th quadrant (negative x-axis), as I want to focus my results in the main body (photo attached).

However, when i run fluent in 2D axissymetric and check the geometry, it gives me the following error.

WARNING: Invalid axisymmetric mesh with nodes lying below the x-axis.

Is there a way where I can only select the faces in the positive x-axis for meshing.

One cause of the error might be some nodes that have negative but tiny y-values. You can check whether this is the case by pressing the Scale... button in the General tab, and see whether Ymin is a tiny negative number. (Actually, Mesh Check also reports "y-coordinate: min".) If this is the cause, then the command "/mesh/repair-improve/repair", as suggested in the error message, will probably fix it. (Maybe this is obvious, but you type that command into the same text window where the error message appeared.)

If you have cells that are substantially below the x-axis, the right way to fix them is to go back to your geometry and delete the part with negative y. Don't forget to keep the edges with y=0 as a separate edge zone, with boundary type "axis". It is possible to remove the cells in Fluent (mark by region in the adapt commands; separate by mark; check adjacency to find which zone to delete; delete it), but the result might be messy.

Thanks for the advice.

/mesh/repair-improve/repair solved the problem.
