Hi, I have created my multiblock mesh in ICEM and I am getting an error (as shown in the attached image.
I first convert my grid to multi-block grid, after this I select the solver as Multiblock-info and when I click Write Input, and selected the save Multiblock file I get the error in the attached figure.
Has anyone seen this before, and know how to get round this?

Thanks,
Dale.

Hi Dale,

To export as multi-block you need to have the Icem mesh license, aa-mesh if I remember well. Often you mix standard mesh licenses (cheaper) that allow you to export most common mesh types and additional "special" licenses that allow you to export additional mesh formats.

Check which license is loaded by scrolling up the history output window (must be the 2nd line).

I don't know how your company organise its license pool, but you could also use the Ansys borrow utility to lock a specific license.

Have fun

Hi Gweher, thanks for your reply.
I have aa_r_me, Research license, I thought this would be sufficient to output to Multiblock-info.
I can export an unstructured to ANSYS, do I need an additional license for this Multiblock-info?

Thanks,
Dale.

Hi Dale,

If you have the aa_r (i.e. Academic Research) I'm not 100% sure. If I remember well they classify the Icem licenses into 2 subcategories. The standard that supports the output interfaces for Ansys, CFX, Fluent, and another license that supports additional output interfaces for “3rd party solvers”. So I don’t remember if Multiblock-info is included in the standard one.

I would recommend to contact your local sales representative and check if this feature is/should be enabled with your license. It's always difficult to remember all the sub-options with various licenses, and sometimes they also change it between major version release so it becomes a bit confusing

Keep us posted

Hi, just to update.
After a few long discussions with ANSYS Tech support and no reply from sales,
turns out it is a license issue, as you said.
Thanks for your help.

Dale.
