[ANSYS Meshing] Help needed for structured grid

Default Help needed for structured grid

Hello everyone,
I want to create a structured grid for a 3d hollow conical shape with a flat base using the ANSYS mesher, I'm using ANSYS Student for a paper so I don't have access to ICEM.
Can the required mesh be created using the basic mesher or not? If yes could you please guide me in the right direction?

It is not completely clear from the picture, but if you cut the model in half you create two sweep-able bodies which the mesher would be able to automatically recognize and mesh in a structured manner.
Don`t forget to add the two parts into a single body if you`re using Design modeler or to select "share-topology" if you are using Spaceclaim

Thank you!! It worked really well for the wall, now I'm trying to do the base.

Default Problem for structured cone meshing

Hello everyone,
i have almost the same geometry and i did manage to create a structured grid with ANSYS Meshing (Student Ver 19.1). However i am not satisfied because it is creating Elements of high skewness (0.6 and bigger) near the wall region. Is there any other approach to avoid this?


My Meshing approach is as follows:
1.Splitting the domain into two parts. Meshing both of them in the same way, like it was suggested above.

2.Creating a cylinder part in the center of the cone /half cone.
3.Splitting the clyinder in different parts to enable structured meshing
4.Starting to mesh the cylinder parts by using face mesh and sweep method
5.Meshing the outer body which surrounds the cylinder by multizone meshing


In Spaceclaim all bodies are in one component and shared topology is enabled. It would be great if someone could help me out!
