I Can't Generate Mesh For This Geometry

1 Attachment(s)
Hello, I am new in CFD Analysis. I am doing a project in CFD my Professor gives me this file in .stl format(Screenshot is attached) and said try to mesh it in ANSYS but I can,t generate mesh it even I also tried the ICEM CFD. One of the problem I faced is that I can't create named section like inlet, outlet etc.

Can anyone gives me an idea how to deal with this file

Link for the file:-https://drive.google.com/open?id=1L8P39lZsjp0rIvEBZr0Ev8V4sdk70ZqC

Thank You in Advance.......

It can be done in ICEM.
Measure the smallest distance ( i.e. diameter in the smallest cross section).

Repair Geometry - Build Topology and enter 1/10th of the smallest value you measured.

Then you will have curves where possible. now use parts -> create part and select surfaces for necessary inlet outlet.

1)Use unstructured Octree meshing with prism 3 layers.
2)split the prisms using split function with the number of layers you wish to resolve boundary inflation (such as 15 or something)
3) re-order prisms using re order function in ICEM with correct first cell height defined.
4) Check for any errors in the mesh,
5) if you pass 4) then convert mesh to delaunay or advanced front.
6) put density regions where necessary to refine, if there is any.
7) smooth the mesh with tris and prisms frozen.

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion but when I try to select a surface to create a part the whole body get selected so I can not specify the inlet, outlet, body.

did you build topology

I have built......

Can you provide me a tutorial on my geometry.....

I doubt I have time for that at the moment as I am swamped with work. but when i do have time i will make one.

in the mean time you can try different tolerances for build topology.

Another thing you can do is draw draw a circle with two arcs around the surface which you want the inlet/outlet to be at. and then project them to the surface. Split the surface along the curves and then make new surface parts for inlet/outlet.
