Hi,

I am from the University of Auckland Formula SAE team and I am designing some of the aerodynamic devices for our vehicle this year.

I am trying to automate as much of the model as possible, so that I can spend more time on CAD and the CFD results, rather than assigning named selections and meshing, etc...

The main issue I am currently having is that if I change the geometry in Creo, then I need to select all of the surfaces that make up the underbody to create a named selection so that I can calculate the downforce acting on each component.

I have tried two methods so far but I have not yet achieved what I want.

1. Create a part in Creo consisting of a wind tunnel with the shape of car removed from it. Ie, the wind tunnel has a cavity inside it shaped like our vehicle.
I can create named selections in Creo using this method, however they will not update if i change the geometry of the aerodynamic devices.

2. Import an assembly into Ansys then use the enclosure tool.
The problem with this, is the internal surfaces corresponding to each component no longer have information about what part they were made from. I have not yet found how to automatically create a named selection on each face from the parts the were created from.

Any help would be much appreciated.
