Hi,

I am getting the Error:
"Patch-conforming tetrahedron mesh failed because of an edge intersection in the boundary mesh". Please see the attached images. Image 1 shows the geometry that I am trying to mesh. It is a Shell & Tube heat exchanger. Image 2 shows where I am getting the intersection error.

I tried to reduce the mesh size at the front and rear faces, but it did not help. I tried many different mesh sizes and created Face Sizing for all tubes, but I am still getting the same error! every time the intersection point moves from one tube to another.

I reduced the Max Face/Tet size, it did not help. I also tried to do Mesh Match Control between the front/rear large circle and the each of the tubes circles, it did not solve the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Sunil,

The only way I could solve this problem was by generating hexa (rectangular) mesh for the inner tubes. I think this improves the interface between tubes and shell. Try to avoid using triangular mesh if possible at the interfaces.

Good luck
