Hi,
I'm really new to ICEM, and although I've been following tutorials and guidance online, I've run into a number of problems with handling dirty CAD. In particular, I've created a volute geometry using FreeCAD. I have exported this to IGES and imported it to ICEM. However the volute spiral was constructed using a loft and fillets, and therefore inevitably it has a number of issues. After using the build topology tool with a tolerance of 0.0005, I found a number of gaps, particularly around the start of the volute spiral. A closer inspection shows that ICEM particularly does not like the filleted surfaces at the cut water. Another picture with the surfaces hidden shows the curve defining the bottom of the cut water has been removed. Closing the hole for the reported error is no good because the other side of the curve is missing an edge with which to connect it. I'm a bit stuck here on how to proceed really. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has the time to have a look, my CAD files can be found here: https://universityofcambridgecloud-m...il2aw?e=tQG0ct Thank you in advance. James |
