Creating a Moving Heat Source in order to simulate a Laser

I am trying to generate a simulation of the Laser Cladding Process for my dissertation. Laser Cladding consists of having a powder material layered on top of a substrate, followed by providing heat through a laser as two melt both metals and mix them together. So far I have created Heat Flow on a sheet of material, by using tabular substeps, and am wondering if this is the right approach? Or is there an alternative way of generating a Laser heat source in ANSYS?
