Image you have a volume with somewhere a wall in the middle. Why not a room with a flat wall like a table desk. You can create a model of this room in ICEM with this table desk as a thin wall with no thickness. Like a sheet-metal.
When meshing, you can treat this sheet in different ways: - internal wall - split wall In my experience, when using internal wall, the mesh on both sides of this wall will be equal. In fact the mesh will be conformal. When using split wall, the mesh on both sides will not be equal. So not conformal. The consequence is that when I import the mesh in CFX-Pre, a split wall, will be seen as a wall. When using an internal wall, I can choose between wall, or nothing. In the latter case, CFX doesn't see the wall, and the room is empty. So, the internal wall gives me more flexibility. I can use a single mesh for different runs by applying 'wall conditions' or 'nothing' on the internal walls. Therefore I always use internal walls... |
