[ICEM] Holes in complex ICEM geometry

Hello,

I'm trying to model blood flow through a stented artery with an aneurysm. I have created the desired geometry (picture attached) and am trying to mesh a quite complex area in ICEM. The geometry consists of a blood vessel combined with a helical swept cut representing a stent. This can be seen in attached picture.

I was initially successful in meshing the geometry by creating a new part for the helical stent's surface and assigning a maximum element size to it. I have attached a picture of this also.

When I edited my geometry file to increase the number of coils in the stent (from 10 to 20) this technique no longer works. I receive the error: "geometry has holes". I have also attached a picture of this. It appears that the geometry has holes in certain areas where the stent surface meets the vessel surface as can be seen. I am not able to identify the source of this error as I have only made a small change to the geometry with all other settings identical.

I'd appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction to solving this issue.

To me it looks like there is just a mistmatch of walls of atery and spring.
- What do you see if you show the surface geometry 'Full' (Use RMB on surface in geometry tree)
- Usually it helps to cut large surfaces into smaller piece. Then ICEM is able to represent the geometry better. Did you try that?

Thanks for the reply Gert-Jan. I've managed to solve the problem by importing my geometry file in .SAT format rather than the supposedly inferior .STEP.
