Meshing with ICEM

Hi there,

I am having trouble to mesh some geometries in ICEM. Anyone have a book or tutorial recommendation? I would like to be able to mesh anything, but the lack of theory prevents me from doing it. For instance, I don't know how to choose a Scale Factor, max element and when to use Curve Mesh Setup and Surface Mesh Setup or when I should use blocking. I've already google it, but I couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance

A good place to start ICEM practice will of course be its own tutorials (just like any other software). Many people jump right into their own specific problems they are trying to solve without doing this. But this is the recommended way.

If you want to learn ICEM by trial and error method you can try something in ICEM once you get an error or if you are stuck search for that specific problem in threads posted on this particular forum. Be it Octree, Delaunay, Structured, Unstructured, Multi-Block etc etc I bet somebody else has faced that problem before and it has been discussed and resolved to some extent here.

Another way is to search for thread posts from "Far, PSMYNN, Gert-Jan, bluebase, diamondx" , you know some legends around here ;). Bet you can get some real nice tips.

Also, ANSYS have got a series of videos called "how to". search in Youtube for them. There are many other channels in YouTube for ICEM mesh generation as well including poor my channel too ;).

Good luck and hope its speedy learning for you.

Thanks very much for answering my question. I've been doing the tutorials and my doubts emerged because I was following the tutorial. I'll follow your advice and visit your channel.
