why could i use the" link edge"function like this

I learn the airfoil meshing on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GLYQwCsc8A
i want to make a boundary layer,in the video ,the author firstly use ogrid to create a around block, then he use the link edge to make the later edge parallel to the edge he had edit before (10:05)
but when i want to do this ,the linked edge coincide to the edge before,i don`t know where is wrong.

could anyone help me?Thanks a lot!

Hi Jiang,

you have set the (linking) factor to 3.0.
In the video it's set to 1.0.

This factor is a scaling factor for the target edge shape with respect to the source shape (as the manual states).

1.0 means that the target mesh approximately looks like the source.
<1 means the shape is only loosely coupled ("only a slight bend")

It seems larger than 1 means the target should increasingly become the source shape.

Best regards,
Sebastian

Hey Sebastian

Thanks so much for your reply, that may not be the main point, even if i set the factor to 1.0, the target edge still coincide to the target edge but not parallel to it.

Finally i create the vertices and move it one to one.

Best regard
Jiang
