Error in Meshing the solidworks geometrical model

Hi dear friends,
I have built a geometrical model of a room equipped with a drum louver type diffuser (air inlet) and 2 grills (air outlet). I wanna study airflow throw through this diffuser. But, when I am performing meshing in Ansys mesh the mesh is generating on the solid parts (room walls, grills, diffuser) and when I am considering the inner space as fluid and generating mesh then mesh generating for the fluid domain but not having the existence of diffuser/grills. what should I do now to generate error-free meshing in the fluid domain (inside the room) with the existence of diffuser and grills in their positions. |

It seems you have a mixture of solid bodies in this model and depending on what you assign the mesher,it will mesh this part. What you want is to create one body contain your geometry. Unfortunately it is hard to see from the images how exactly that model is set up. Maybe a close-up of the outlets/inlet bodies would help. At least I can see you have the "walls" included which you can cut out straight because the boundary of your cfd model will be where the "inner" wall is. If you are using an assembly in Solidworks, switch to part. There you can import the separate bodies and merge them to one body. Then it should be more clear to the mesher what to do. |

No, you can do that in Solidworks, as long as you are not working in an assembly. I attached an image of what I think is wrong and needs to be fixed. It is based on what I can figure out from your images, might be off, though. You need to convert the multiple bodies intersecting into one volumetric body.
Create a part in solidworks, preferably just use the one where you modeled the "fluid" volume. Then, add the grills and stuff by using Insert>Features>Imported. If they are not positioned correctly, you can move them by Insert>Features>Move/Copy. Now you should have 4 bodies in your model: the fluid domain, diffuser and 2 grills. Now you need to make a boolean operation by Insert>Features>Delete/Keep Body. Subtracting the 3 fixtures from the fluid volume should leave you with ONE volumetric body. If this is the case, you can go meshing. Hope this helps. |
