Creating Contacts Automatically or Manually for VOF model
Hello All,
My model has a number of parts with number of contacts(around 452). But, by with dumb knowledge, my teammate has deleted all the contacts in the Connections tree of meshing. I have again tried to regenerate the deleted contacts by clicking on "Create Automatic Connections", but it's all in vain. I have also been trying to create a named selection of 452(as 226 parts are similar and other 226 also come under the same geometry and functioning) and then giving "Manual contact Region" manually. But the contact and target selection is not accepting the named selection. Is it so, we cannot give contacts by named selection? On the whole, please help me creating the deleted contacts or let me know is there any way to say or define fluent about the flow of the fluid? Thank you in advance Raj |
Hi Raj
Are there any moving or rotating parts? If not, go back to ansys desigmmodeller and group all bodies in one part. Enable shared topology. Then you do not need any contacts or interfaces. Regards, Svetlana |
Hello Svetlana,
Thank you for your reply. I am using Spaceclaim. I have shared and merged in shared topology, I am using merged in options. Which one would you suggest? Best Regards Raj |
Could you possibly take a screenshot of this option?

Hello Светлана,
I'm posting some screenshots. Please let me know if there is anything to change to get contacts. I have used shared topology in my components and for whole model I have used Merge topology. Best Regards Kolkundi Rajesh |
Share in SCDM
It is actually good that your friend deleted all the contacts in the Meshing. Contacts or connections should not exist in a CFD mesh until and unless there is a specific requirement, such as, moving mesh.
In SCDM, go to Workbench tab, and then click on Share. Ensure that SCDM highlights all the faces where bodies are touching each other. If it is not, try increasing the tolerance shown on the left. Click on green tick. Then take it to mesh. At meshing stage, ensure that there are no contacts under connections. If any exist, delete those, as your friend did :). Check within the Geometry in the Tree that it shows only one part with all the bodies as its children. Do note that this needs to be done only if you do not have any moving mesh in your simulation. |
Hallo Vinerm,
Thank you for your useful information. I will definitely try it. Thanks once again. Raj:) |
