Three output files for CGNS format?
Hi,
I'm using ICEM CFD for mesh generation. I want to use the generated mesh in another CFD software. When I export the mesh in CGNS HDF5 format, it gives me three files: a file with .cgns extension, a file with .uns and another file with .hdf extension. What are the two files with .hdf and .uns formats? Should I place them in the same directory where the mesh file must be in the CFD solver or they are not used by the CFD software? |
Hello,
Not sure if you ever found an answer to this, but the .uns file, which is a binary file, contains your actual mesh in unstructured form and as for the .hdf file, it is used to store large amounts of data: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierar...wer%20(HDFView). To be safe, I would keep everything in the same working folder. |
