Meshing of symmetric body
I'm simulating laminar flow over a cylinder.I created a semi-circle with meshing on icem cfd to apply symmetry in fluent.but by importing msh file into fluent ,it causes error...
"Ansys.Fluent.Cortex.CortexCommandFailedExcept ion: An error occured in FLUENT while applying case and settings informatins. An error occured in FLUENT while applying case and settings informatins. at Ansys.Fluent.Cortex.CortexCommunicator.SendMessage (String msg, String msgKey, String errorMessage, Boolean waitForReply) at Ansys.Fluent.FluentCommunicator.UpdateSetupInfo(Di ctionary`2 info) at Ansys.Fluent.Data.SetupData.ReadCaseModelInfo(IFul lContext context)" so,simulating symmetric shapes has another route rather than i did? |
Could you attach an image showing the geometry and mesh (and maybe some steps in ICEM before generating the mesh)? It is very hard to tell what's the problem without looking how the mesh was done.

Thanks for your interest and sorry for this mistake.
Kindly consider the attached image. and this is the drive link for my Wbpz file. https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...Fz?usp=sharing |
I would need more details to see what's really going on, but some things that you can check in the meantime:
- Did you create an actual surface to represent the symmetry plane? It is a nice practice to create it and perform a face-to-surface association to project the block faces on this surface; - At the time of saving your mesh, did you check the 2D box (by default the 3D is selected). |
I really didn't do surface meshing.I made a new geometry with a full circle, things worked well and the quality check reported only line elements on the boundary and when i ignored it as mentioned in another post here ,things worked well.
so, i will try later a semi circle geometery. Many thanks for your help |
