Converting parts of hexa mesh to tetra

Hi all,
I'm currently working on a hexa mesh for a part of a cooling channel of a fusion reactor. The goal is to create several meshes for the same geometry and compare the results to see if coarser meshes still give accurate results. I have gotten to the point where there aren't a lot of areas left where I can save some cells. I've heard that one can save some cells by converting the solid parts of the geometry to tetra, I just cannot figure out how to do so... Ideally, I need the tetra law to be applied before I create the mesh, so I can work on it with Pre Mesh Params. So far, I only managed to convert the solid part to tetra with Convert Mesh Type in the Edit Mesh section. This brings the orthogonal quality to almost 0 in some areas, meaning I have to manually increase quality. This is a lot easier for me to do with the pre mesh. So, is there a way to convert hexa to tetra before or during working with the blocking tools? Cheers, Max |

Hello,
Other than using the Convert Mesh Type function, I usually mesh the parts separately then combine them when I am happy with them. You can combine the parts in either ICEM or CFX. |
