Hello all,

I am trying to mesh 5 cylinders that are concentric (You can see in images). I have tried to mesh it and got an appropriate mesh after using edge sizing, the multizone method. Prior, I have tried sweep, face meshing, and different options. I have also seen a lot of mesh generation videos and studied pdf-related meshing from ansys website. But I could not find any help. Please look into the images and let me know what can I do to get the perfect structured Hexa mesh. Please suggest some other software if possible? ( I have tried to install Pointwise but they are refusing to provide access)

Do I need to boost or post this question in another thread? else why do I not get any reply? I hope it's not impossible to create a structured mesh for a solid cylinder

This can be easily done with ICEM. The software is based on a blocking strategy ,which gives you a very high quality hexahedral mesh. For these type of geometries (annulus, cylinders, sphere, boxes, etc..) you can even create the points, lines and surfaces within the software.

Once with the annulus defined, you can introduce a block, -> O-grid --> maybe 2,3 splits -> associations -> that's it.

Hello Alain Islas,

Thank you for the suggestion. I will definitely try it but I cannot find it in my workbench. Is ICEM an open-source or academic version is available?

ICEM CFD is found in Workbench in the list of Component Systems and can be accessed as a standalone product in the Windows Start Menu. Of course this depends on your ANSYS licence.
