Meshing cylinders with boundary layer using Gambit

Hi,

I have Two cylinders interconnected each other with an angle of 50 degrees between their axes. I work on Gambit and I want to Mesh them by using a boundary layer and hex cells if that is possible.

the BL shouldn't be the problem, in the BL panel, just pick all the surfaces from the cylinders excepts caps.
It should create the BL without any problem.
For a full hexa mesh, I think the issue will be a the intersection af the cylinders.
Split the volume with the idea to isolate the intersection of the cylinders.
In worst case, you won't be able to mesh this volume with hexa, but the rest will be full hexa

i still have one problem: how can i isolate the surface of the cylinders without the caps?
gambit refuse to define this surface (lateral surfaces of the cylinders)

what do you mean with define?
what do you want to do with this surface?
When you pick this surface, does gambit provide any message?

i tried to subtract the cap from all the cylinder (so i get the lateral surface alone) but gambit write that it is impossible because the cap has upper topology (it exists on a volume)

you can't do boolean operation between different kind of entities (ie: substract a volume with a face).
You should try to split the volume with the face.
But if the cap is one extremity of your volume, it won't change anything.
What is your aim?
