[ICEM] Domain Size

Hello,
I am using a structured grid in ICEM CFD. I want to model a wing and would like to minimize the mesh element number as much as possible. If I am mainly interested on the forces on the wing, and not on the flow throughout the domain, are there any rules to how small my domain can be ?

Alternatively if there is an easy way to refine the structured mesh near the wing without effect the mesh size on the far field. I tried using the mesh refinement feature, but the results in CFX after using a fluid-fluid interface but it seems to take a considerably longer time to converge
any suggestions ?
