Hi to all,
I am trying to simulate a turbine vane. I have been using Gambit & Fluent for 2 years, using multiblock structured grid. But, nowadays I have to use unstructured grid for the increased complexity in geometry. Tgrid is more powerful than Gambit in creating Boundary Layers. That's why I am trying to generate the mesh in Tgrid. My computational volume consists of turbine blade surfaces (le, ps, ss, te), hub, casing, inlet, outlet and periodic boundaries. I was trying to generate prisms from the hub, casing and blade surfaces using the same growth options. Everything goes well except for the periodic boundaries. It creates the boundary layer faces correctly for one of the periodic boundary, but not for the other shadow part. When the time comes for remeshing the shadow periodic boundary it could not find periodic twin faces for some portion of the boundary layer. Instead for that portion it creates a wall.. It is so weird. Have anyone of you encountered such a problem? Thank you in advance... |

I figured out that the problem was related to imperfections in the geometry.
