i am doing analysis of fluid flow through tube.. after analysis i thought to insert a plate in tube i modelled accordingly but how to put plate insert in tube.... frozen option.,cut option or freedze option Workbench 11..... but giving error in analysis please give hint

Do you want to model the flow around the plate or do you also want to mesh the volume of the plate…?
The Freeze option is if you want to create the plate and keep it separate from the fluid volume around it, but you still want it to be meshed, such as for conjugate heat transfer. By default, separate parts are meshed separately (non-conformal), which may be ideal if you want a coarser mesh in the plate and have a method of interpolating the results across this non-conformal boundary. If you want to mesh the plate conformal with the surrounding region, then you will need to create a multi-body part and put both parts into it. If you just want to remove the volume of the plate from the fluid flow volume, then just use the “remove material” option instead of the “add material” option that you used when creating the other volume… |

Hi, I want to do a simple problem of heat transfer of a heated solid copper sphere that is being cooled by convection in ambient air. I keep reading that one needs to create a cube that would represent the fluid air but don't understand this process. I have created a sphere in designmodeler then froze it and created a cube around it. Do I then need to remove the spherical shape from the cube? and if I do, will the sphere still remain?
In this case should I keep the sphere and cube as 2 separate parts? When i go to mesh, I cannot see the sphere, only the cube. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Refer tutorial on flow over blunt body.
1. do modeling like preparation of wind tunnel as per the proporsion of your cube. 2. place the cube inside using the concept of cut material. 3. in PRE prepare two domains like fluid and solid. 4. in fluid domain instead of isothermal model use thermal energy concept. 5. put constant temperature or constant heat flux condition as per your problem 6. Refer tutorial that will give idea like INLET,OUTLET,FREEWALL, BODY for boundary conditions. 7. solve the problem.... Enjoy... Quote:

Thank you very much.
I'm curious about the "PRE" that you mention. Is this Preprocessing in FLUENT? Also, is there a tutorial on creating an air tunnel with flow over an object? I feel that the ANSYS website is really lacking in tutorials so am having a difficult time getting started. Thank you, Jamie |
