Hi
I created a mesh as shown in figure. Mesh is OK but when I try to export it to ANSYS-CFX, I get the following error message:

Error:
Running ICEMCFD - CFX5 Interface Vers. 10.0.1

Error generating internal faces
Wrong element type [el_type= -1]
Error exit in local_face [iel=67041]
child process exited abnormally

Please help to resolve this problem...

I don't know the answer to this, if you haven't figured it out yourself, perhaps email your question to techsupp@ansys.com

Hi

I get the following error when exporting the mesh to cfx:

Error:
Running ICEMCFD - CFX5 Interface Vers. 13.0.0

Wrong element type (el_type=-1)
Error exit in local_face (iel=284009)
child process exited abnormally

It seems to work when I change to CFX-5 Version: Pre-5.5 instead of 5.5 or later

Has somebody an explanation for that??

Best, cibo

Did you get any errors or messages while doing the Mesh check in ICEM CFD before exporting the mesh?

I am having the same error, without getting any error while making the mesh.
My number of elements is quite high though. Is it because of that?

I created a similar wedge model but had no trouble with the export...

Quote:
Running: "C:/Program Files/ANSYS Inc/v130/icemcfd/win64_amd/icemcfd/output-interfaces/cfx5" -dom "hexaWedge_5_deg.uns" -b "hexaWedge_5_deg.fbc" -ascii -db "C:/Users/sppereir/Documents/demo/hexaWedge_5_deg.cfx5"

Running ICEMCFD - CFX5 Interface Vers. 13.0.0

CFX-5 File C:/Users/sppereir/Documents/demo/hexaWedge_5_deg.cfx5 created

Done
Done with translation.
The error message is clearly complaining about your element types (not quantity)...

You should have Nodes, Lines, Triangles, Quads, Hexahedra and Prisms... You can find out what you have by looking under Info => Mesh Info.

In my simple case it said...

Quote:
Element types :
NODE : 6
LINE_2 : 351
HEXA_8 : 9408
TRI_3 : 8
PENTA_6 : 196
QUAD_4 : 5382
Element parts :
GEOM : 945
PER1 : 2401
PER2 : 2401
SOLID : 9604
Total elements : 15351
Total nodes : 12300
Min : 0 0 -8.71557
Max : 100 100 1.00484e-010
What does yours say...?
