Hi,

I'm making a 2-D, hybrid mesh in Gambit version 2.4.6 for an external aerodynamics simulation.

I have assigned node sizings on all the edges (the farfield edges have large element sizes and the aerodynamic body has small element sizes and also includes the boundary layer mesh).

When I mesh the fluid domain Gambit uses the edges nodes but makes the elements even smaller away from the edges (see wall mesh.jpg) so that there is not a very nice transition from large farfield elements to small aerofoil elements. And the element quanitity is too high (see mesh.jpg).

So is there an away of setting a global surface element size? Much like can be set in ICEM Tetra/Prism Surface Mesh Setup > Maximum size?

Thanks

Have you set any size functions?
if the edges of your airfoil are already meshed (node distribution), I yould create a size function (Meshed) with edge as source

There are no size functions in this mesh.
