Hi
I got a problem with a tetra mesh which I want to import in ANSYS CFX.
I have a CAD model (as .step) of a wing with some measuring instruments on it. I've created a controlvolume around it in ICEM and created a tetra/mixed mesh using octree (see the pictures for what the shells look like, you can see the two lances and the buckle, also the leading and trailing edge are very sharp).
Then I write an output file to ANYSY CFX and import it there. Then, the two lances are only partial a solid part, the buckle is completely outside it. The LE and TE have become very edged (again, see the pictures).
Why is the imported mesh in so poor quality, when the shells in ICEM look so good?

I'm thankful for any help!

Jonas

Hello,

I might be wrong, because I did not use CFX for quite a lot of time...
Try to pick up the boundary from the CFX tree to see the mesh on the boundary and check how does the surface look like. If you will see the same you see in ICEM then it's just a display properties of CFX... Sometimes it does not make a nice rendering (not necessary), but the model is still ok.
You can also import mesh back to ICEM from CFX and check the same visual way.

But normally, everything should be ok. I have never faced any problems with ICEM to CFX export.

Best regard,
DST
