How to mesh part by part?

Hi, All,

Is it possible to mesh an entity part by part?
I want to get the tetra mesh for the complicated portion and hexa mesh for others, and connect with matched meshes. If tetra generated first, could it be freezed and generate hexa domained mesh with geometry and existing mesh?
Thanks in advance for any information.

I suggest to create Hexa first and then go for Tet.

Or first simply create the Quad mesh on the interference face, the create tet mesh which will create prism and interface, and then go for Hexa.:p

Thank you, Amol.

I tried to generate Hexa first, but they will be deleted when creating Tetra mesh without any prompt. Is there any options to be checked?

plz upload journal file let me see the issue.

Thank you, Amol.

Take a rectangular tube as an example, part of it is meshed with hexa, and tetra for the rest.
I create block to generate the hexa first, and then define mesh parameters to tetra mesh. When computing volume mesh, previously generated hexa mesh was deleted. Only the specified "existing mesh" was kept, and divided into tetra.
The resultant mesh is shown in the attached JPG. And the journal file is also listed out. :-)

Merge Tetra and hexa.

There are tutorials for this... Look for the HVAC tutorial.

What you need to do is mesh the two meshes separately and then merge tetra and Hexa at an interface. I have other posts about this that you can take a look at.

Yes, I have read through it. Maybe this is the only solution.
Thanks to all of you.
