Dynamic mesh element types

Hi, is there any guide or the like which recommends the type of mesh elements zones should have in a dynamic mesh simulation?

I am going to do a 3d dynamic mesh of engine in-cylinder, I have the 2d tutorial and have looked at the mesh construction.

I take it any actual moving grid zones have to be quad elements.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There is no recommendations, but I would use layering technic, so you can work with hexas or wedges where extrusion's direction is the same as your cylinder's axis. (you mentionned 3d-mesh, and quad are 2d-elements)

Hello, thanks for your reply.
Sorry I means hex for 3d and quad for 2d, I am not sure whether to go for a 3d simulation now or try and get combustion working nicely on a 2d simulation.

Do you have any expericence with combustion within CFD?

Thanks a lot.

If your model enables it, start with 2d calculation.
No experience with combustion
