How to eliminate overlapping elements?
 

Hi, everyone

I have generated an O grid mesh, which is showed in the following picture.
When I checked the mesh quality, I found there were some overlapping elements. Who can help me eliminate the overlapping elements?

Should not do that...
 

That looks pretty ugly... Hexa should not do that.

Can I see the files?

That is my first try to mesh a 2d cylinder. And now i know why it looks so ugly: i have used "smooth mesh globally" function.

Simon, can you help me about my current trouble :how to refine the mesh?

Generally speaking , i mean that i want to coarsen the mesh but the mesh should satisfy the following demand:
1. the first layer mesh should be close enough to the wall to make sure y plus approximate to one.
2. aspect ratio of mesh should not be big in order to be true of FLUENT's limitation.

did you find a fix to these overlapping nodes? I'm having a similar problem where it just kinda goes up and folds over on its self..

I had smoothed the mesh using ' global smooth'. This was the reason why there were so many overlapping nodes...

All set?
 

Hey Ringtail are you all set on this... I can't tell much from your image. I don't even know if you have an Ogrid. I would need better images or the actual files to help any more on this one.
